Am I a ColdFusion guru now?

I received a surprise email today from a developer working on ColdFusion 8. He is working on some new cool features, which I will keep private. He talked to CF guru Ben Forta regarding the new feature and Ben referred him to me! Ben Forta recommended me! Me!

This developer sent me a draft of the new features and asked for my feedback. What a very surreal experience.

My head is still shaking.

  1. Yes Kim, yes you are.

How do you know Ben Forta (or more specifically, how does Ben know you)?

    I’m super impressed/jealous by the way…

  2. That’s just it. I don’t know him.

I vaguely remember sending him an email with a CF question, but I just checked 2.5 years of archives in my GMail account and couldn’t find anything.

    But that’s it.

  3. So it was one of the developers working on the next version of CF? That’s pretty cool. It’s good to know that things are down to earth, even after the Adobe takeover.

  4. Wow… that’s really cool to have Ben recommend you. Ben is a God. It’s like Jesus saying… “Hey, you got problems with taxes… here, talk to my buddy John…..”.

I’m so happy that the Adobe Merger hasn’t tainted the CF Ethos. It’s actually enhanced the language and given us the “backbone” we always knew we had. I’m so sick of .Net dev’s slamming on us CF Devs… now that we have a company like Adobe backing our system, there can be no denying that CF is here for the long haul and our chosen language is not something relegated to the likes of COBOL or FORTRAN (Fortran and Cobol guys, I know you are still out there and your code still works, but damn… could you be any more verbose???)

Kudos to you sir… You may be the next Ray Camden!
