Poll: Do you say “phone” or “call”?

When you’re going to contact someone on the telephone, which of the following do you use?

I will phone Jill.

I will call Jill.

Please comment below which you use (or if you use something else entirely), and let me know where you live.

  1. I am going to phone Jill. Implying that I will be using the phone to contact Jill.
If I was calling Jill I interpet that to mean I am going to Jill’s to visit. This came from the idea that one “called out ” to a residence when passing by to see if the person was home.
