Why you should increase your followers: keep your community fresh

Right off the bat, I’m just going to say that follower count is worthless in and of itself. If you think follower count is a badge of honour or a status symbol, then you’re doing it wrong.

That being said, gaining more followers does have value, and here’s one reason why.

More followers keeps your community fresh.

If your collection of followers never changes, it can affect the conversations within the community. The same three people do all the talking, they talk about the same things, and they share them with the same people.

Increasing followers, on the other hand, brings new people in who can participate in the conversation and who can share your posts with a much broader network.

New followers can potentially provide new ideas and different perspectives your current community hasn’t considered or introduced. This of course can improve the quality of the conversation, which is great for your other followers, including your current ones.

Keeping your community fresh enriches the conversation and expands your network, which helps to deepen brand loyalty and broaden brand awareness.
