Have you ever come across a sentence similar to the following:

  • This idea was a perfect segway into the candle lighting sequence
  • . . . allowed the collection to seamlessly segway into shining bronze-gold silhouettes

They’re actually incorrect. Here’s why:

Segway

Segway is a brand name for a two-wheeled vehicle. You might have seen one before:

Segue

If you want to use a word that describes a smooth transition, then the word you’re looking for is actually “segue”. It’s easy to see why some people pick the former: it’s more phonetic.

But now you know.
