How to increase engagement on Instagram

How to increase engagement on Instagram

Instagram has been around for over 5 years. It’s also owned by Facebook and has over 400 million users. If you’re serious about social media, you should strongly consider this visual powerhouse as part of your arsenal.

This social media network can be a bit overwhelming, but if you use these 4 tricks, you should be able to increase engagement with a bit of hard work and a bit of time.

1. Post captivating content

Sure, you could post whatever you want, but if you want to increase engagement on Instagram, your photos and videos must catch the eye and the imagination. Use negative space, patterns, colours, and textures to make your photos stand out. Human subjects are always great, especially candid shots and faces. Emotional photos and videos are also popular (whether they’re funny, sad, or adorable).

2. Use hashtags

Hashtags are arguably the most powerful method of increasing engagement on your Instagram content. People love browsing hashtags, and Instagram makes it easy to use popular hashtags by suggesting the most used ones as you type.

3. Reciprocate

If someone gives you a heart on one of your Instagram photos, check out their gallery and heart one of theirs. If they leave a comment on yours, leave a comment on theirs. Reciprocation is the key to building a community of dedicated followers on Instagram. As you reciprocate, it encourages them to come back for more.

4. Follow back

Finally, when someone follows you, follow them back. Doing so tells them thank you and that you value the content in their gallery. Plus, it provides one more source for populating your Instagram feed with content you want to engage with.

  1. And use apps. My experience says that without zen-promo I’d reach what I have now. Think about it
