Church History in Québec
Below are some of the prominent historical events of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Québec.
- 1836 - First Québec converts baptised by Hazen Aldrich and Winslow Farr in Stanstead County
- 1837, 20 Jul - Twenty-three of these converts emigrated to the Midwestern United States
- 1918 - Missionaries assigned to Montréal from the Eastern States Mission
- 1919 - Canadian Mission organized. Elders Guy V. Cutler and Marvin Beckstrom assigned to Montréal
- 1920s - First branch (English-speaking) operating in Montréal. James McCance first president
- 1942 - First Québec meetinghouse purchased on St. Joseph Boulevard
- 1961 - Six French-speaking missionaries assigned to areas near Québec. French-speaking branch organised in Montréal.
- 1969 - Branch organised in Québec City
- 1972, 18 Mar - Québec Mission created
- 1974 - French-speaking branches were in operation
- 1975 - Tung Fong Branch created in Montréal for local Chinese members
- 1978 - Montréal Québec Stake created. First French-speaking stake in North America. Gerard Pelchat president
- 1979 - St. Joseph Blvd meetinghouse destroyed by fire
- 1980, 06 Jul - Montréal Mt. Royale Québec Stake was created from the Ottawa Ontario Stake
- 1981 - Church membership at 3,246
- 1987 - Church membership at 5,650
- 1988 - Québec meetinghouses number 10, serving two stakes, one district, nine wards and 11 branches
- 1990 - Church membership at 6,800
- 1998, 16 Aug - Temple announced for Montréal
- 2000 - Church membership at 8,500
