13 quick ways to engage with people on Twitter

I still see too many companies on Twitter focusing far too much on trying to sell their products and services and far too little on engaging with potential customers.

People on social media expect companies on there to market their products and services, but they also expect that it’s not all those companies will do. If it is, they’ll just stop following those companies.

If you’re ready to make the switch to a more balanced approach, here are 13 quick tips you can easily try that will elevate you as a leader among your competition.

  1. Answer a question, even if it’s not directly related to your company
  2. Make a recommendation, even it’s to another company
  3. Respond quickly and publicly to customer complaints
  4. Ask for ideas or feedback
  5. Introduce your customers to each other
  6. Retweet instead of copy and paste
  7. Follow people back
  8. Infuse personality into your tweets; don’t sound stuffy or short
  9. Comment on current events/news
  10. Tweet trivia
  11. Tweet quotes
  12. Tweet photos of people using your products
  13. Show how your product solves a problem someone tweeted

Follow these easy examples every day, and you’ll become a pro before you know it. :)
