Difference between mold and mould

This is part of the difference between series.

Have you ever seen different people use mold or mould and were confused to which one you should use or what each refers to?

Here’s the difference between the two.

Mold

Mold is actually the US spelling of the word used to refer to both the fungus and containers used for shaping, as well as related uses.

Mould

Mould is the same word, but the spelling is a British usage, which means it’s used in Commonwealth countries (Canada, Australia, etc) as well.

Keep in mind, however, that Canadians are increasingly using mold instead of mould, so you may see both fairly regularly in Canada.
