IE Tabbed Browser
IE now has tabbed browsing! Well, sort of. You have to install the MSN toolbar. The 1.2 version of the MSN toolbar now allows IE users to have tabbed browsing functionality. It appears the functionality is available to users of IE 5 and 6. So what takes IE so long?
Hot Pepper Branding
My branding efforts must be working. Recently I have had two visitors to my site who came here after searching Google for “red pepper kim siever” and “HOT PEPPER KIM SIEVER”. I also a visitor who had searched for “hot pepper blog”, but it’s difficult to say if they were searching for my blog or… Continue reading Hot Pepper Branding
Globe and Mail Standards Compliant
I’m not sure how recent it was, but I noticed today that Globe and Mail—one of Canada’s national newspapers—recoded their website to be more standards compliant. The site validates at only 24 errors, a far cry from the hundreds it had previously, and many of the current errors are minor (such as not encoding ampersands… Continue reading Globe and Mail Standards Compliant
IBM Backs Firefox
Looks like Firefox is getting some much needed support in their fight against Internet Explorer. IBM is encouraging its employees to use Firefox, aiding the open-source Web browser’s quest to chip away at Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Is… Continue reading Percentage or Pixel Based Width Columns
GMail Folders
I love using GMail. It’s easy to use and is accessible from home and work. Plus it has more disk space than Hotmail and doesn’t use up room on my computer. I moved all of my mailing lists over to GMail. One thing I noticed after moving all the mailing lists over was the absence… Continue reading GMail Folders
Web Stats Software
The current web stats software our system administrator has implemented leaves much to be desired. As a result, I am looking for something else. Here are what the software should include: Third party hosting IP exclusion No image displayed on our website No stat limits (we receive hundreds of visitors a day; I need to… Continue reading Web Stats Software
Job Applicants
Interestingly enough I received two job applications tonight. I am not hiring. In fact, I don’t even own a business. I do not even advertise myself as a business. I find it kind of interesting though because it says something toward my branding efforts. What else was interesting is that both applicants had the email… Continue reading Job Applicants
IE 7 to Be More Standard Compliant
Chris Wilson, the lead program manager for the web platform in IE, announced on the IE Blog that IE 7 will be rid of many of the CSS inconsistencies that plague IE currently. To boot, it will also support PNG transparency. Oh how I’ve wanted this for a while. Support the alpha channel in PNG… Continue reading IE 7 to Be More Standard Compliant
