Did you recently start your small business Facebook page and find it difficult to get likes on your page?
Unlike other social media platforms (like Pinterest for example), Facebook provides very few options to proactively increase followers within the platform. Increasing Facebook likes in the short term can be done using one, two, or all of the following methods:
- Page managers invite all Facebook friends.
- Notify all your email contacts
- Purchase advertising
1. Inviting people to like the page
This is an easy way to get more Facebook likes. Anyone who is a manager can invite his/her friends to like the page. Response rate is generally 10–20%. To increase general numbers, you can make more people page admins, and have them invite all their friends.
2. Email contacts
Send out an email to all your email contacts (including current and past clients) telling them about the Facebook page. Open rates for mass emails is generally 10–20%, and about half of those will click on a link within the email. Keep in mind that unlike the first method (in which every person invited has an email account), not everyone who receives your email will have a Facebook account.
3. Purchase advertising
This can be an effective way to increase page likes, but it costs money. You can spend as much or as little money as you want on a Facebook advertising campaign, but ultimately, the more likes you want, the more you’ll need to pay.
These three techniques are good for short-term initial growth. You could use the second technique for residual growth, but that depends on your email mailing list growing, too. Also, you can use the third technique long-term, but that will balloon your budget.
Again, use these techniques as a way to build an initial follower base. Currently, Facebook is around 30 likes, which is much too small to have meaningful engagement. For long-term growth, focus on engaging content.
